It is the vision of Management Information Systems to develop highly educated students with appropriate technological skills. The Management Information System is committed to provide our students with the modern and state of the art technology to prepare them for the advanced technological opportunities and challenges of the future.


Mission

It is the mission of the Management Information Systems to provide strategic IT vision, Automated Transactions Systems and introduce and implement variety of advanced technologies for the benefit of our students, faculty and employees.


Primary Responsibilities

The MIS staff is mainly responsible for an efficient operation of computer systems. The specific tasks of MIS staff include the following:

  • Install and configure computer hardware operating systems and applications;
  • Monitor and maintain computer systems and networks;
  • Troubleshoot system and network problems and diagnose and solve hardware/software faults;
  • Replace parts as required;
  • Provide support, including procedural documentation and relevant reports;
  • Follow diagrams and written instructions to repair a fault or set up a system;
  • Support the roll-out of new applications;
  • Set up new users’ accounts and profiles and deal with password issues;
  • Test and evaluate new technology, systems, hardware modules;
  • Conduct electrical safety checks on computer equipment and laboratories;
  • Keep an updated and accurate inventory of all technology equipment;
  • Monitor printing activities and maintenance of printing devices in all offices;
  • Monitor web browsing, uploading and downloading activities;
  • Implement procedural instructions in using school system.

Important Policies

Technology Support

  • Users experiencing technology problems must submit an Administrative Services Request Form (ASRF) to the MIS to initiate repairs.
  • Scheduled event that need for MIS assistance should be filed 5 working days before the event this is for the preparation and testing of the equipment.

Technology Maintenance

  • Movement of technology equipment must be approved by the MIS before the transfer.
  • Netbook and Laptop issued to Institute head, Administrative head and Officers should be surrendered to MIS every end of the Semester.

Maintenance of Personal Technology Equipment

  • MQCPI is not responsible for any damages or theft of personal equipment resulting from use in the workplace.
  • No personal equipment must be attached to the network without prior approval from the MIS.

Disposal of Obsolete Equipment

  • The MIS is the only entity empowered to the direct disposal of obsolete technology equipment. All matters pertaining to proper disposal of technology equipment should be directed to the MIS.

E-mail Etiquette

  • Use of school – owned e-mail accounts to transact business such as selling to staff members is prohibited.

Internet Filtering Provisions

  • It is the policy of MQCPI to block inappropriate web sites. Approval from the MIS (thru ASRF) must be secured for access to a web site that has been blocked by the internet filter. Narrative report must be submitted together with the request.
