The Vision of Health Services of the MQC School Clinic is to promote, protect, and maintain the health of the school population in order to attain the state of well-being.


Mission

  • To promote health and safety in the school environment and provide health services to students, faculty and staff.
  • To be able to help the school community regarding health problem/health concerns.
  • To become aware on the needs of the whole school community about their health status.
  • To provide appropriate intervention to a medical emergency situation.
  • To initiates good health for every individual around the school through medical and dental check-up.

Important Policies

Drugs, Equipment and Documents

The clinic stores a supply of medications and equipment essential to its daily operations. These shall be in the custody of the physician/nurses-on-duty.

  • Dispensation of medicines shall be done only by authorized personnel of the clinic after medical/dental consult. The kind and amount of drugs given to the student/faculty/employee of MQC shall be the prerogative of the clinic personnel dispensing the medicine. A total Hands-off policy shall be implemented for unauthorized persons regarding this matter, to minimize the occurrence of untoward drug reactions/poisoning.
  • All medical/dental equipment in the clinic, with the exception of the weighing scale, shall not be operated by unauthorized persons to prevent abuse and subsequent breakdown of equipment. The following equipment shall be kept clean after use at all times to minimize spread of infections: Lavatory, sinks, waste areas, nebulizer, forceps and scissors, oxygen tank/masks, etc.
  • Official logbooks, posters and other documents are to be kept from vandalism and theft. Anyone caught vandalizing/stealing said articles shall be reported to the Security Office/ OSA/ respective colleges.
  • An inventory of medicines and equipment shall be made periodically to check expiration dates and general condition. Expired or contaminated (opened) medications should immediately be disposed. Defective equipment should be reported to the Head and a requisition for repair or replacement of said equipment shall be accomplished as soon as possible.
  • A first-aid kit shall be kept in a conspicuous area at all times.

Services

  1. APPRAISAL ASPECTS INCLUDES:
    • Health examination of the freshmen & consultation of old students.
    • Treatment and dispensing of medicines.
    • Prescribing follow-up medicine & issuance-up medical certificate.
    • Cleanliness inspection of school surroundings.
  2. PREVENTIVE ASPECTS INCLUDES:
    • Control of communicable diseases through voluntary vaccination. Illnesses like- Chickenpox, Influenza, Hepatitis A & B, Typhoid and MMR vaccine.
    • First aid treatment of minor injuries and mild illness which can be treated in the clinic e.g.- sprain, cough, colds, muscle pain, diarrhea, sore eyes, epigastric pain, hyperacidity and dysmenorrhea.
    • Emergency treatment in case of serious illness and injuries, patients are transported to an affiliate hospital. (Diosdado P. Macapagal Memorial Hospital) after medical evaluation has been done at the clinic.
    • Water supply examination and treatment are done by DOH.
  3. REMEDIAL ASPECTS:
    • Referral of patient to other hospitals for further evaluation and managementv.
    • Follow-up of referred emergency patient at the Diosdado P. Macapagal Memorial Hospital.

  4. SUPPLEMENTARY SERVICES:
    • Seminars are conducted for students relevant to health awareness.
    • Physical examination & issuance of medical certificate for Scholars, Sports Activities and applicants for Student Assistantship.

  1. PATIENT TREATMENT
    • Oral hygiene instructions
    • Prescribes & dispenses medicines to control pain & hemorrhages
  2. CURATIVE SERVICES
    • Treat and restores decayed tooth (as temporary filling only).
    • Tooth extraction (with parent & guardian consent).
