Vision

Mary the Queen College Library sees a future where, sensitive to the distinctive needs of the academic community, it will become an increasingly vital force in the college by exercising leadership in identifying and acquiring information resources critical to Mary the Queen College larger mission. Thus, employing professional expertise, interpersonal skills and appropriate technology, it will provide uncomplicated and swift access to needed resources.


Mission

As the principal focus of information resource at the Mary the Queen College, it is the mission of the College Library to advance the goals of the school by:

  1. Providing access to information resources regardless of users.
  2. Collecting library materials in all forms necessary to support course work, research and service.
  3. Preserving its important collections and unique materials for future research.
  4. Participating in broad range of cooperative programs or consortium to ensure appropriate access to resource not locally owned.
  5. Maintaining appropriate physical accommodations for library materials operation, and for users of Libraries’ resources and services.
  6. Educating and assisting faculty, students, and staff in the identification and effective use of informing resources.
  7. Exercising leadership, in cooperation with other campus units, in the management of scholarly information and utilization of information technology in the pursuit of academic goals.

Services

  1. Technical
    • Acquisition- select books with library committee, recommends, and purchases and accessions all library materials.
    • Cataloging- catalogs, classifies and prepares records of newly acquired books before they are circulated.
  2. Reader’s Services
    • Circulation- contains all books, fiction and non-fiction, written by foreign and local authors.
    • Reference Section- almanacs, dictionaries, encyclopedia, atlases, yearbooks, etc. are housed in this section.
    • Periodical Section-journals, newspapers, magazines are found in this section.
    • Special Collection- Scriptural, Spiritual, and Devotional books are found in this section.
  3. Internet Section- Facilitates research through an easy access and retrieval of updated information and material.

Important Policies

Library Hours

Regular Semester: The Library is open Monday-Friday from 8:00 AM-6:00 PM, Saturday from 8:00 AM-12:00nn.
Summer Term: The Library is open Monday-Friday from 8:00 AM-5:00 PM

Rules and Regulations:

  1. Bags are not to be taken in the stack room when selecting books.
  2. Proper dress code should be observed.
  3. Students without library cards will not be allowed to use the library facilities.
  4. Unnecessary noise, loud conversation and group discussion are not allowed.
  5. Any borrower who shall deface, mutilate or appropriate for himself or steal any library property shall be subject to disciplinary action.

Authorized Users

  1. All students, faculty members, staff and administrators of MQC.
  2. Alumnae of the school with proper identification.
  3. Visitors and students of other educational institutions with referral letter signed by their librarians/school heads.
  4. All Bible Study students and other students through the school’s Community Outreach program.

Overdue Books:

Failure to return a borrowed material on a specified date is subject to pay the necessary fine. A student is not allowed to borrow materials unless his/her financial obligation in the library has been settled.
